George Giunta

George M. Giunta is a surrealist painter whose work sits between dream and everyday life.
He grew up in a family of artists and was strongly influenced by his great-uncle Charles Ardovino, an illustrator for Stars and Stripes magazine and a window designer for Saks Fifth Avenue. That early exposure to painting, drawing, display, and storytelling shaped how he thinks about images.
At 13, a visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, especially the work of Salvador Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico, and Vincent van Gogh sparked his commitment to surrealism and color. By the late 1980s, he was showing his work in group exhibitions in New York City, developing his own language
of dreamlike scenes.
Today, his work explores the tension between inner and outer life, time and memory, using precise drawing and carefully staged, surreal imagery. Each canvas invites viewers into a small, self-contained world that feels both familiar and slightly off-balance.
