Our Story
Casa Bizarro was founded in 2023 by Carrie, a passionate art lover, vintage enthusiast, and entrepreneur who felt a deep calling to create a space that would embody everything she loves: art, community, and funky decor.
Why Casa Bizarro? Whenever our family would visit my Dad’s very mixed up motifs and eclectically decorated house he would stand at the door with arms spread wide singing a booming “WeLLLcome TO CAssssA BizZzaRRo,” Carrie decided to bring this phrase to life and create an emporium that would honor the fond memory of her late father and the idea of welcoming visitors into a world of creativity, wonder, and surprise.
Carrie’s journey reflects how acting on a spontaneous gut feeling can create a wealth of meaningful relationships, strengthen an art community and add a bit of joy to a small town. After concluding a 35-year career in hospitality due to a knee injury, she visited a retiring retail establishment in June 2023. Instinctively recognizing its potential and feeling a supernatural nudge, she decided to acquire the business. This pivotal decision led to the creation of Casa Bizarro, which has since blossomed into a vibrant destination for art collectors, vintage hunting, and eclectic decor.
The name Casa Bizarro was chosen not only as a tribute to her father’s affectionate greeting but also as a representation of what the store stands for. “Bizarro” embodies the idea of the unexpected and the beautifully unconventional, and the store aims to bring these qualities to the community through its carefully curated collection of locally sourced art and artisan made treasures.
Hi There. Meet Carrie
I’m so excited to welcome you to my store. Casa Bizarro is the realization of a lifelong dream – one that was inspired by the love of art, the joy of discovering unique pieces, and a strong desire to support local artists. I’ve always had a passion for the strange and beautiful, and I wanted to create a space where that love could be shared with others.
Casa Bizarro is my tribute to my late father, and it’s my way of carrying on his creative, zany and supportive nature. When I took over this space in June 2023, I felt an immediate connection to it. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m so grateful for the support of the community and the wonderful artists who continue to share their work with us.
When you visit, you’ll also meet my dog, Vincey, who has made Casa Bizarro his second home. He’s a big fan of meeting new people and soaking up all the love and attention he gets from our visitors. Come by, say hello to Vincey, and experience the magic of Casa Bizarro for yourself!
