The Last Waltz
The Last Waltz is a photo montage by Darlene Foster printed on fine art German etching paper.
While exploring in and around the township of Marlboro, NJ, Darlene came across an abandoned property with a different twist. The house itself was not that unusual, but on the front porch were the crumbling remains of what must have been a lovely old piano in it's day. She photographed it from several angles, but found the close up the most appealing with all inner workings exposed and marked "Kirby, Newark". Having never heard of a Kirby piano, she researched it's origin online but oddly, found nothing other than it may have been apart of the Griffith Piano Company dating from the 1920's. The "pianist" is one of Darlene's backyard birds she happened to capture mid-stretch; with feathers ruffled and mouth open as if singing along, making him the perfect addition to The Last Waltz.
This is a 12x16 photograph, however it is matted and framed to be 16x20.
